Admiral De Vega won the Stockholms Stora Pris 2023. Can he repeat that achievement on Sunday?

Bro Park showcases trio of black type events this Sunday

3 June 2024 19:04

This Sunday, June 9, Bro Park in Stockholm kicks off the summer with one of the Sweden's biggest race days, featuring the black type races Stockholm Stora Pris (Gr.3), Bro Park Spring Sprint (L), and Bloomers' Vase (L), alongside the classic races 1000 Guineas and Jockey Club 2000 Guineas.

The Stockholm Stora Pris (Gr.3) with a total purse of 900,000 SEK has attracted an unusually small field, with just five runners. However, with last year’s winner Admiral De Vega, the Meydan winning Good Fortune, and Pramms Memorial third-place finisher Chiant due to line up, it looks to be a very competitive race. The local crowd's favorite might be Seakine, a newcomer from renowned trotting trainer Stefan Melander’s stable.

The Bro Park Vårsprint (L) also presents a compact field but with four horses rated over 90 in Swedish handicap (OR 100), it promises to be a contest of high sporting caliber.

In Bloomers' Vase (L), nine of our finest fillies and mares will compete. With horses like Una Matina, Takeko, Little Arabella, and Miss Wintown in the mix, this race could be a real thriller.

You can find the starting lists for the Stockholm Stora Pris and the two listed races below, click on each horse to read more (in Swedish).

This day also features two classic races: the Swedish 1000 Guineas for three-year-old fillies with a prize sum of over 1.1 million SEK, and the Jockey Club’s 2000 Guineas for colts and geldings.
