Bro Park opened in 2016, replacing Täby Galopp as the home of racing in the Swedish capital. It stages some of the most important races in Scandinavia including the Gr.3 Stockholm Stora Pris in June and the Gr.3 Stockholm Cup International in September.
Bro Park has a 2100 meter turf course and a 1900 meter dirt track on the inside. There are chutes on the turf course to optimise variety in distances. The course has been designed as a fair galloping track with the turf course closest to the public.
The course is 30 meters wide and has a level surface which enables the rails to be moved easily and effectively provides the option to create three ‘different tracks’. Separate courses for steeplechase and hurdling are being installed on the inside of the flat courses.
The turf track at Bro Park is a left-handed, galloping track with long, sweeping bends. The circumference is 10.5 furlongs. The track has hardly any undulations. Races run at 8f, 8f 154yds and 10.5f are started on their own separate chutes. The straight is slightly over 2 furlongs long.
The dirt track at Bro Park is a left-handed track inside of the turf track. The straight is 2 furlongs and the circumference is 9.5 furlong. The 8f races are started from a chute from the inside of the track.
Bro Park covers an area of approximately 500 acres and has permanent stabling and training facilities for 300 horses with the capacity to accommodate a further 100 on race days. The facilities have been designed in consultation with a team of vets and racing experts to create the best possible environment for the horses and the people working with them.
The racecourse is located in Bro which is approximately 30-40 minutes from the centre of Stockholm by car and a similar distance from Arlanda Airport.
