The best in Scandinavia? Listed victories for I Kirk and Duca Di Como at Jägersro

There were two black-type races at Jägersro Galopp on 24 May, and two very impressive winners. Duca Di Como galopped home the Listed Meccom Group Pramms Memorial with ease. I Kirk cemented his position as the best sprinter in Sweden with a victory in the Listed Galatea Jägersro Sprint.

Is Duca Di Como the best miler in Scandinavia? Few would argue against that, after his impressive display in the Listed Meccom Group Pramms Memorial at Jägersro on Sunday 24 May.

The five-year-old son of Clodovil led all the way and was never in any danger in the 1730 meter dirt contest. The victory was worth ca €57,000 for owners Stall Como. Elione Chaves rode the gelding, who is trained by Catherine Erichsen in Norway.

The next options for Duca Di Como are most likely the Group 3 Stockholms Stora Pris at Bro Park on 14 June and the Listed Polar Cup at Øvrevoll in Norway on 23 August. New York and Dubai has been mentioned as possible long-term targets.

In the Listed Galatea Jägersro Sprint over 1200 meters, I Kirk proved that he is still the best sprinter on dirt in Scandinavia, winning the 1200 meter race with two lengths. The Swedish-bred son of Eishin Dunkirk has now won this race three years in a row. This was his first run in Sweden this season, having spent the winter at Meydan.

I Kirk was ridden to victory by Carlos Lopez. The gelding is trained by Susanne Berneklint at Jägersro and owned by Hästgruppen i Lund AB.

I Kirk will most likely be seen in the Listed Zawawi Cup at Jägersro Galopp on 12 July, another race that he has already won twice.
